Our Rooms

Howl’s beautiful control room is the central hub of the production process and features the D-Command-24 Control Console, enhanced electronic communication between rooms, and a fully normalized custom patch panel. The room offers a mixing flexibility not often seen outside large-format rooms. With access to a long list of great outboard gear and a host of plugins, we believe this is a room tailor-made for the mix. Great care and precision were taken to ensure that the room offers exceptional accuracy, great sight lines, as well as a comfortable and relaxing vibe. Our soffit-mounted Genelecs and Yamaha NS-10s, Apogee converters and Bryston Power Amps offer you a class of listening options you’ll find in major commercial studios across the globe.

The larger of our two Iso rooms, Iso A can connect up to 16 mic inputs, Midi lines and Guitar lines to any of the other rooms (including the control room), as well as a large gauge speaker line. This allows for an amp head to be in the control room or studio proper and a speaker cabinet separately in the Isolation room for better control over tone. Iso A also features the connectivity for our Furman sub-mixers allowing the performer to control their own headphone level and up to 4 separate sub mixes. The room has delivered fantastic results on everything from vocals to drums, and electric or acoustic guitars when your tracks call for a little bit of extra “space”.

Iso B is most often used for it’s great sound when tracking Vocals and was designed with this use in mind. Still, it offers connectivity for up to 8 mic inputs, Midi lines, Guitar lines or large gauge speaker wire to any of the other rooms (including the control room). Like Isolation Room A, Iso B also features the connectivity for our Furman sub-mixers allowing the performer to control their own headphone level and up to 4 separate sub mixes.

Our Studio Proper is the largest of the three recording areas and can accommodate up to 20 Mic inputs, Midi lines, large gauge speaker line and guitar lines running through to any of the other rooms. Equally suitable for recording drums, acoustic piano or “live-off-the-floor” bed tracks, our studio proper delivers great results consistent with the quality you’ll come to expect from Howl. Other applications have included medium to large vocal groups (5-10), small horn sections, and small string sections. The Studio Proper is also designed to easily convert into a lounge and bar area including comfortable seating, a kitchenette and stocked fridge and 54″ television with tons of channels – making your stay at Howl as comfortable as it can be.
